Clinical Engineer, Nashville, Tennessee

Dominick reads a hospital floor the way a nurse reads a patient, because he trained as one first. He left nursing school for clinical engineering to support patients a different way, and now brings that clinical instinct to a team he helps mentor.

Clinical Engineer, Wichita, Kansas

Tyler came up in the Marine Corps infantry, then earned his biomedical certification in the Army Reserve, where he still serves as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. The military gave him a simple operating principle, and he brought it to the hospital floor.

Lakadria found clinical engineering through mobile medical equipment, following the repairs that kept catching her attention. As a kid, she took things apart to see how they worked. The career made that instinct her job.

Rounding at her local site on June 2, 2025, Angie noticed a patient who appeared to be choking. She called out to clinical staff and made sure care reached the bedside in time. The patient was stabilized and transferred to the ICU. Staff confirmed she saved a life. Her job is keeping equipment safe and working, but being present and paying attention is part of the work too.
