INDIANAPOLIS, IN - November 3, 2006 - Millions of Americans across the country spent Saturday, Oct. 28 - the 16th USA Weekend-sponsored Make A Difference Day - doing volunteer projects to improve their communities and help neighbors in need. The day started in 1992 as a challenge offered by the newspaper to reach out to others for just one day. Today, it is the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations, and everyday Americans into action on one day.
TriMedx, LLC., an Indianapolis-based healthcare equipment services company, chartered 26 unique projects across the country with over 260 volunteers contributing to the effort. It is estimated that on this day, TriMedx associates impacted over 7000 lives, with some project estimates still outstanding. The projects ranged from hosting a Halloween party for a group home at the Indianapolis Children's Bureau to repairing wheelchairs in a nursing home in Birmingham, Alabama.
"Our participation in Make a Difference Day was a kick-off for our new mission statement, Making a Difference in the Health and Lives of Others," stated Greg Ranger, TriMedx President and CEO. "The coordinated effort put forth this day went long way in effecting one of our long-term company goals, which is impacting 100,000 lives by the year 2010."
